Native Minnesotan, grew up in Spicer, Minnesota. Father's ancestors emigrated from Sweden in the 1860's and homesteaded the family farm. Mother's ancestors were among the first British settlers in Virginia in the 1600's.
Descendant of the Whitlock family. General George Whitlock led troops in the fight for American freedom in the Revolutionary War.
Graduate of New London Spicer High School in 1977. While in high school
participated in Future Farmers of America (FFA) serving as Chapter Vice President in 1976 and 1977. Member of the crops and poultry judging teams.
FFA provided a great introduction to formal meeting structure, parliamentary
procedure, and Robert Rules of Order.
Member of New London Spicer Cross Country and Track teams. Won the West
Lake Conference Championship twice in Cross Country (3 Mile Run).
Also, won track conference championships in the Mile Relay, Half Mile Run,
and the 2 Mile Run.
Graduated from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management
in 1981 with a Bachelor's degree in Business.
Served as an Officer in Beta Alpha Psi, an honor organization for financial
students, while at the U of M Carlson School.
Received an MBA in Finance from the University of Minnesota Carlson School of Management in 1990.
Arthur Andersen & Company - 1981 to 1984. Promoted 3 times reaching
position of Senior Auditor.
B Dalton/Barnes & Noble Bookstores - 1984 to 1990. Promoted twice
reaching the position of Manager of General Accounting.

Christopher & Banks Corporation- 1992 to 2008. Joined in 1992 as Assistant Controller. Promoted to Controller in 1995 and Vice President of Finance and Chief Financial Officer in 1998. Held CFO position for 10 Years before retiring in 2008. As CFO for Christopher & Banks had accountability for financial management of a $500 million retailer with 800 store locations. Financial leadership history includes a strong track record for developing and implementing financial and operational controls and increasing return on investment. Held position of corporate Secretary and attended Board meetings as a management representative for 9 years.

Member of Mount Olivet Church.
Member of the Arbor Day Foundation. Planted 15 fruit trees in the last three years.
Will donate majority of fruit to Eden Prairie PROP Shop food shelves when trees are mature and producing.
Financial supporter of the Hennepin County Public Library System, the Wounded Warriors Project, and the Twin Cities Walk to End Alzheimer's.
Hobbies include gardening. Donated hundreds of pounds of fresh garden
produce over the last several years to the food shelves at the Eden Prairie PROP Shop.
Also enjoy biking, spectator sports, golf and travel.
